The Lighthouse Girl Comes to Hedland for One Night Only

Published on Thursday, 26 April 2018 at 3:14:13 PM

A story of hope, love and loss during the outbreak of War in 1914 is coming to the Matt Dann Theatre and Cinema in South Hedland on May 1 at 7 pm.

The Lighthouse Girl, a live production of the Black Swan Theatre Company, follows the intertwining journeys of Fay and Charlie as they cope with the challenges of wartime.

Fay finds purpose in transcribing Morse Code from soldiers stationed off shore, while Charlie abandons the outback for the excitement of seeing the world.

The play, by Hellie Turner, is based on the novels by Dianne Wolfer.

Mayor Camilo Blanco said the production was an excellent opportunity for the community to experience a live performance with such depth and meaning.

“I’m so pleased this production is being performed at the Matt Dann, a facility which plays a central role in raising the profile of performing arts and culture in Hedland.

“With the community recently marking ANZAC Day, this show’s depiction of the realities of Wartime is particularly timely.

“The production will only be here for one night, so don’t miss your chance to book your tickets while they last."
