The Hunt is on for the Golden Feather

Published on Friday, 9 March 2018 at 12:00:00 AM

Port and South Hedland Libraries are currently holding “The Golden Feather Treasure Hunt” between 1 March and 9 May, an initiative designed to engage local young people with reading and storytelling.

The Treasure Hunt involves feather-shaped bookmarks being hidden in children’s and young adult books, for young readers to uncover.

Locally, one of these feather bookmarks will be a golden one and will unlock a prize for the lucky finder.

The Treasure Hunt is occurring in the lead up to the newly launched Scribblers Festival, which will be held from 9-13 May across WA and celebrates literature, storytelling and the arts through a dynamic program of events.

The Scribblers Festival is a creative partnership between FORM and the Town of Claremont.

With reported literacy levels stalling amongst young people across the country, the festival seeks to reverse this trend.
