Special Council Meeting on 2018/19 Rating Strategy

The Town of Port Hedland is holding a Special Council Meeting tonight at 5.30pm in the Civic Centre Chambers, on the 2018/19 Rating Strategy.

Following community consultation sessions, formal written submissions and feedback from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, a number of amendments have been made to the proposed rating strategy.

The amended proposed rates model reduces Gross Rental Value (GRV) Residential property rates from 11.1577 cents in the dollar to 9.3483 cents in the dollar.

Further, the proposed rate for GRV Commercial / Industrial properties has been amended from 11.1577 cents in the dollar to 9.3483 cents in the dollar.

Vacant GRV Commercial / Industrial properties has been amended from 21.5924 cents in the dollar to 14.0225 cents in the dollar.

UV Other differential has been amended from 21.4200 cents in the dollar to 19.1760 cents in the dollar.

If Elected Members endorse the adjusted strategy this evening, it will be delivered to the State Minister for Local Government, Heritage, Culture and the Arts for approval.

Once the strategy receives Ministerial approval, Council will then proceed to budget adoption.
