A special council meeting will be held on Tuesday 6 June at 5.30pm regarding the 2017/18 Rating Strategy.
Consultation for the Strategy closed at 12pm Friday 2 June, and all submissions will be taken into consideration by the Town of Port Hedland.
Mayor Camilo Blanco said that the meeting will allow councillors to come together and discuss the Rating Strategy, but that there are still a number of elements left in the process before it is adopted.
“Councillors will take rate payers feedback into strong consideration before deciding whether or not to endorse or amend the Rating Strategy,” Mayor Blanco said.
“If it is endorsed, next step of the process is to seek approval from the Minister for Local Government,” he said.
“I encourage all interested members of the public to join us at the meeting on Tuesday, this is an important topic and your feedback is an essential part of the process.”
To be adopted in the new financial year, the proposed 2017/18 Rating Strategy is dependent on approval from the Minister for Local Government.
