Port Hedland Youth Week Wraps Up for 2018

Published on Monday, 23 April 2018 at 3:58:32 PM

Port Hedland’s biggest youth event concluded on Sunday, after ten days of action-packed fun and entertainment across Hedland.

The event included skating workshops, hip-hop workshops, a movie night, a basketball competition and a pool party, plus food and information stalls.

Special guest attendees included Jack “Deadly Ninja” Wilson, Indigenous Hip Hop Projects, Rapper Baker Boy and professional basketballer, Ricky Grace.

Mayor Camilo Blanco said the event was a success, showcasing the community spirit and enthusiasm of Hedland.

“It was fantastic to see young people from across the community get involved, have fun and meet some inspirational people who shared life advice.

“The great turn out throughout the week suggests an interest in holding events into the future which engage our young people and celebrate their contributions.

“We saw this year’s theme, light it up, on display every day throughout the week as young people tried new activities for the first time and made new friendships.

“I’d like to thank Port Hedland Youth Week’s major sponsor, BHP, as well as all the program partners who made the week’s events run smoothly and efficiently.

“Well done to all the staff and volunteers who made the week such a success, and thank you to everyone who attended.”
