Nominations for Port Hedland NAIDOC Awards closing tomorrow

Nominations are open for the 2018 Port Hedland NAIDOC Awards with eight categories and a total of 17 awards including artist of the year, high achiever in education and the reconciliation award.
 
The inaugural awards aim to recognise individuals and organisations who have made a significant contribution towards improving the lives of Aboriginal people, promoting issues in the wider community, or demonstrating excellence in their chosen field.
 
In recognition of the 2018 NAIDOC theme, three individuals will be awarded the “Because of Her We Can” award which celebrates the achievements of trailblazing Aboriginal women and the significant role they have played, and continue to play, in creating a brighter future for their community.
 
Nomination forms and eligibility criteria can be downloaded here. Nominations must be submitted to trina.stoddart@gmail.com by 21 June 2018. Winners will be announced at the Yule River Bush Meeting.
 
The 2018 Port Hedland NAIDOC Awards is an initiative of the Hedland Aboriginal Strong Leaders, and is supported by the Pilbara Development Commission and Town of Port Hedland.
