Learn, share and grow this Reconciliation Week

Celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture with the Town of Port Hedland at the annual Reconciliation Week concert.

Taking place from 5pm – 8pm on Saturday 2 June, the free concert marks the end of 2018 Reconciliation Week.

Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco is encouraging all members of the Hedland community to come together and join in the festivities.

“Reconciliation Week commemorates two significant milestones in Australia’s journey towards reconciliation, the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision,” Mayor Blanco explained.

“This concert is a wonderful way to commemorate the week, to recognise our traditional owner’s cultures and histories,” he said.

“I look forward to seeing everyone down at the South Hedand Square, enjoying the free performances by Aboriginal artists Phil Walleystack and the Humidors and The Merindas.

“There is also going to be a whole range of family activities and a free BBQ, it’s a night not to be missed.”

Reconciliation Week runs from Sunday 27 May to Sunday 3 June, 2018.
