Learn Safe Swimming Tips During Special Storytime

Published on Thursday, 6 September 2018 at 3:05:09 PM

Next Week, the Libraries will be hosting special Storytime sessions featuring Royal Life Saving WA.

The sessions will be held on Tuesday 11 September, 10.30am at Port Hedland Library and Thursday 13 September, 10.30am at South Hedland Library.

The mascot Dippy the Duck will help deliver a message of water safety and supervision, particularly important for the Spring and Summer months.

Tips will include how to keep watch of children in and around water, controlling children’s access to pools and the importance of learning to swim.

The latest statistics show there were 291 drownings in aquatic locations in the year leading up to 30 June 2017, which shows the importance of the water safety message.

If you’d like more information on the sessions, please contact Port Hedland Library on 9158 9378 or South Hedland Library on 9158 9373.
