Both Port and South Hedland are once again entering all categories in the 2018 Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards.
Categories in the Awards include General Appearance, Community Action and Wellbeing, Environmental Sustainability, Heritage and Culture, Environmental Education and Young Legends.
Chairperson of Care for Hedland Environment Association, Kelly Howlett said that Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities is so much more than meets the eye.
“It’s not just about the tidiness of a town, it’s a celebration of all the things that make communities happy, vibrant and healthy places to live.
“This year our submission features a diverse range of activities from the Hedland Community Volunteer Turtle Monitoring Program and the Mother’s Day Classic right through to Spinifex Spree and the West End Markets.
“Care for Hedland are very proud to be able to lead this year’s entry and be a part of the Port Hedland community.
Keep Beautiful WA judges Peter Ashton and Adam Woodhead will be visiting Port Hedland on Tuesday 12 June to assess the town’s eligibility for the Awards.
Please keep an eye on the Town of Port Hedland Facebook page for updates.
