With Bike Week just around the corner, the whole community is invited to take part in the Town of Port Hedland’s week of celebrations.

Bike Week, which runs from 16-25 March, is Western Australia’s annual celebration of people riding bikes.

Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco said that the diverse range of events planned will celebrate the fun and adventure of bike riding around Port Hedland.

“There are events for all ages, and I encourage everyone in the community to make the most of this week long, bike-filled lineup,” said Mayor Blanco.

“Cassia and Baler Primary Schools will be kicking off the week with a parents and students ‘Ride to School Day’, with local Police Officers conducting free safety checks on bikes before departure.

“This is followed by Port Hedland Primary Schools ‘Cycle to School Day’ on Wednesday 21 March, where students are encouraged to ride to school, to be met at school entry points by school staff and local Police Officers giving out prizes to those wearing helmets.

“YMCA has also generously offered to host daily RPM or Sprint classes free to all members of the public from Monday 19 March – Sunday 25 March.

“This series of events is a great opportunity to celebrate Bike Week, have fun and get fit all at the same time.”
