Countdown to North West Festival is on!

Published on Monday, 14 August 2017 at 12:00:00 AM

Two massive days of music, culture and all-round entertainment are hitting Port Hedland this weekend for the 2017 North West Festival.

With only five sleeps to go, Town of Port Hedland Mayor Camilo Blanco reminded residents and out-of-towners about the fantastic activities on offer, including a spectacular fireworks display.

“It’s certainly gearing up to be a fantastic weekend – I would like to welcome everyone joining us for the festival whether they are locals, from neighbouring shires or from further afield,” Mayor Blanco said.

“The festival line-up this year is of a very high quality, and the buzz around town is building as the date gets closer.

“The new location at the Civic Centre Gardens will offer the amazing view that Port Hedland is known for. Attendees and surrounding residents will also be greeted with a dazzling fireworks display from the Spoilbank at 8.45pm.

"Pet owners in the Port Hedland area are reminded to take extra precaution on Saturday evening and to be aware that loud bangs, shouts and flashing lights can be terrifying for our pets," said Mayor Blanco.

“I’d also like to remind residents that shuttle buses will be running between South and Port Hedland across the two days – we want to make sure that people are travelling responsibly”.

“The North West Festival supports the Town’s vision to create a nationally significant, friendly city, and showcases our vibrant community, natural environment and the collaboration of our local businesses and industry”.
