2018/19 Rating Strategy open for consultation

Published on Tuesday, 8 May 2018 at 12:17:22 PM

Striking the right balance for all rate payers, improved service delivery and long-term financial sustainability for the Town of Port Hedland are key objectives of the Statement of Rating Objects and Reasons for the 2018/19 rating year.

The statement is now open for consultation and will remain open until 12 pm, 24 May 2018.

A drop in property valuations across the Town in recent times has necessitated changes to rates distribution, and an increase in the Town’s total rates yield to ensure operational viability.

The Town’s proposed strategy is to ensure uniformity in rating and a more equitable distribution of the rates yield.

The proposed changes will also result in ensuring sufficient yield is raised to maintain current services and ongoing asset renewal.

The Town of Port Hedland are holding two community information sessions on the 2018/19 rating strategy:

  1. Monday 14 May, 6.30pm, Wanangkurra Stadium
  2. Tuesday 15 May, 9am, Ibis Style Port Hedland

Consultation can be completed via post addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Town of Port Hedland, PO Box 41, Port Hedland WA 6721 and clearly marked Submission – Differential Rating 2018/19.
