Western Australia has around 38% of the nation’s Crown lands. 93% of the State is Crown land whether unallocated or subject to reservation, dedication or leasing. These statistics illustrate both the opportunities and the challenges facing government land administration in Western Australia.
The Land Administration Act 1997 (LAA) is the State of WA’s legislation dealing with the disposition of Crown land. The LAA is administered by the Minister for Lands and assisted by the Department of Lands who manages the Crown estate. LandCorp has responsibility for subdividing, servicing and selling serviced State lots in urban and town areas.
Some local matters that fall under the Lands Administration Act are:
- Road Closures
- Pedestrian Access Ways (PAW)
- Road dedication
- Crown land under Management Order to the Town
Should you require further information, please visit the Department of Lands website here or contact the Town's Lands and Technical Officer on 08 9158 9308.
