ABOUT DAVID HOOPER
David Hooper has lived in Port Hedland for twenty nine years having moved  from Whangarei, New Zealand, a hilly and green place.   David says, “here it is flat and red, so it’s a bit like earth and Mars. But I love this Rusty Country!”
David is working on a new style of painting (for him) which he is thoroughly enjoying.  Using bold and sometimes unreal colour.   He loves the edge of balancing bold colours with images that exude light.
“What I’ve noticed as I looking at artwork, I love to see simplicity: simple but effective. Anything worth watching in art – whether it’s a gymnast, or a diver, or something of beauty – they make it look so easy and yet it’s only because they’re putting all the effort beforehand. I like to see that in art – something that looks easy, but at the same time, attracts the eye, and takes you to that happy place.”
