Abstract photographer Meleah Farrell and jeweller Julie Holmes-Reid (Meraki Jewellery) will be this year’s visiting creatives for the 2017 Artist Camp. Set in the historic town of Dampier, be inspired by the rich culture of the Burrup Peninsula and the contrasting landscapes of the Pilbara and unleash your creativity!

WEEKEND PROGRAM OUTLINE

FRIDAY 20 OCTOBER: CREATIVE PROCESSES WITH MELEAH FARRELL | COURTHOUSE GALLERY, 6.30 – 8PM
Kick off the weekend at the Courthouse Gallery and join Meleah as outlines her creative processes, and also shares techniques and skills which will be used during the weekend.

SATURDAY 22 OCTOBER
Morning session | 9 – 11am | Burrup Peninsula

Participants will make their own way to the venue, and will join Ngurrangga Tour guide Clinton Walker through the Murujuga National Park, which has the highest concentration of rock art in the world.

Afternoon session | 1 – 5pm | Dampier Community Hub

Participants can choose between two sessions: review, edit and preparation of images with Meleah; or investigation into the properties of air dry clay with Julie.

Evening session | 7 – 9pm | Dampier Community Hub

Unwind after a busy day with Meleah and Julie, and partake in an informal art, craft and photography session over a cup of tea (or wine).

SUNDAY 22 OCTOBER
Morning session | 9am – 1pm | Dampier Community Hub

Participants can choose between two sessions: photo transfer to wax with Meleah; or fibre, fabric and wire with Julie.

Once the morning session is complete, you are free to go home or spend the rest of your time exploring Dampier or the surrounding towns.
