Rubbish Collection

Weekly Verge Collection

Council supplies 240 litre mobile bins to each residential property within townsites and, on request, to commercial premises. Ratepayers are charged $282.50 (exc GST) for the 2015/16 financial year for a weekly verge collection service.

All bins must be out on your verge for collection by 6am on the collection day.
When placed out on the verge, please ensure the bin handles are facing your house to ensure the truck is able to pick the bin up for emptying.

Collection days for the respective townsite areas are as follows:

DayLOCALITY
Monday Lawson

Tuesday Port Hedland and Turner River Estate
Wednesday Koombana
South Hedland Rural Estate
Thursday Wedgefield

The rubbish collection service runs all year, including public holidays, except for Christmas Day and Good Friday.  If your service falls on Christmas Day or Good Friday, then your bin will be emptied the following day.

Only items placed inside the bins will be collected.

All mobile bins are to remain as part of the property and must not be removed or taken to a new property if you move.

Bins must be maintained and cleaned regularly.

Residents may be held liable for any damage or loss of bins.
