Preparations are under way for Australia Day 2017
Market stalls, circus performances, thong throwing competition, a watermelon eating contest and truck pull are on the line up as well as the Pilbara Ports Auhority fireworks spectacular to celebrate Australia Day in Hedland in January.
Port Hedland residents and community members will be treated to an Australia Day extravaganza taking place at Kevin Scott Oval on 26 January from 5pm – 8.30pm.
The family friendly, alcohol-free event offers a true sense of community spirit hosted by the Town of Port Hedland in conjunction with major sponsors Pilbara Ports Authority, Roy Hill, Rio Tinto and Fortescue Metals Group; and our supporting partners Goodline, Toxfree, South Hedland Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Esplanade Hotel Port Hedland, Kmart and Onsite Rentals.
The Town is now calling for applications from interested market stall holders to participate in the Australia Day activities at Kevin Scott Oval. We cannot accept vans/food vans for stalls as vehicle access is not permitted on the oval.
Local retailers, traders, food and beverage, merchandise and crafts stalls are invited to apply.
Applications for stallholders close Thursday 19 January and for further information please contact Ashlee Groch on 9158 9385 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Entries are also open for the watermelon eating contest and truck pull competition.
