2009 Rates Incentive Program and Prizes HitS the Mark with Ratepayers
More than 80 people attended the event, including sponsors, Councillors and twenty-five lucky ratepayers and their families.
Council secured valued support from sponsors to significantly increase the number, type and value of the prizes included in the 2009 Rates Incentive Program and encourage more ratepayers to pay their rates in full by the due date.
Winners scored a variety of prizes including white goods, various electronic equipment, cash prizes, hotel accommodation, airfares to Perth and Bali.
This year’s 25 prizes were worth more than $18,000 compared to 2008 where 4 prizes, with a total value of $2,950 were handed out.
All rate payers who paid their rates in full by 11th September 2009 were eligible to be entered in the program, with an initial pre-draw, held on the 14th September 2009 to determine the lucky 25 ratepayers to be invited for the actual prize draw.
“The rates incentives program this year has been a great success”, commented Chief Executive Officer Chris Adams, “I believe 65% of ratepayers paid their rates on time this year, compared to 55% last year. This means an extra $1.7M to help Council to continue to deliver essential projects and services to residents.”
“The Town would like to thank all sponsors of the Rate Incentives Program, and Council hopes to grow the initiative further in the future,” he added.
