NEW SPEAKERS TO ROCK OUTDOOR EVENTS
The newly acquired $90,000 sound system includes everything from cables and microphones to amplifiers and speakers and represents a complete overhaul of the Town of Port Hedland’s audio inventory. Mayor, Kelly Howlett said that the Town’s events were growing all of the time. She indicated that the Council supported buying this equipment so that it could make the events bigger, better and more professional.
Matt Dann Cultural Centre’s Technical Officer Brad Holder said the front of house speakers were manufactured by Nexo and paired with RCF subwoofers and Quest amplifiers, placing Port Hedland in line with current industry standards from outdoor concerts and festivals.
“It’s a similar setup to the side stages at major festivals like “Southbound” and the “West Coast Blues and Roots Festival” and the sound quality is absolutely sensational. It’s like nothing the Pilbara has heard before and is a fantastic asset for attracting high profile Musicians to Hedland.”
Mr Holder went on to say that the new system would translate the original outburst of sound, complementing efforts of sound technicians working with the bands and musicians.
“It’s not just about volume,” Mr Holder said, “While they are at least 25% louder than the previous system, it is more about clarity, accuracy and sound reproduction with a better throw. This means that touring bands can be assured that the people right at the back will hear every note exactly how it’s meant to sound.”
