COMMUNITY SAFETY AND CRIME SURVEY SEEKS COMMENTS
The initiative aims to gather residents’ views about their perception of safety for their local area, collate reports of anti-social behaviour ‘hot spots’ and identify top priorities for the Town’s 2010-2013 Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan (CSCPP).
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Kelly Howlett said the information from the surveys will be used to create safer neighbourhoods and communities.
"This survey will provide information about how stakeholders and agencies involved in implementing initiatives contained in the CSCPP should focus their efforts to reduce the public’s perception of crime and related activities.”
“It is important for as many residents as possible to fill in and return the surveys in order for a balanced view to be achieved. Council hopes that by making it available online, this process will be even easier,” Mayor Howlett added.
The comments received will be collated and findings will be presented at the next CSCP meeting scheduled for the 15th of December.
The survey will be sent to a sample 100 ratepayers this week and will also be made available at Port and South Hedland Libraries and the Civic Centre, as well as on Council’s website at http://www.porthedland.wa.gov.au/services_facilities/community_safety
People wishing to provide comment will be able to do so until the 1st of December.
Electronic copies of the survey are available by contacting the Town of Port Hedland’s Community Safety Facilitator on (08) 9158 9370 or email csf@porthedland.wa.gov.au
